Tattersall is a consistently spaced check or plaid pattern, smaller sized than windowpane. It’s normally made up of 1 or 2 darker colors on a white or lighter history. Thin, even, upright stripes, straight or distorted, are duplicated flat in the weft, thus developing squares.
